Deakla Keydar

Author, Screenwriter, Editor, Writing Workshops Instructor

Deakla Keydar was born in the United States in 1975 and lives in Tel Avi with her family.

Keydar studied at the Sam Spiegel School. She works as a writer, screenwriter, film editor, and instructor for writing workshops.

Books by Keydar:
• The novel Other People’s Houses was published in 2014 by Kinnert Zmorah Bitan Puplishers and won a Grant for Creative Encouragement from ACUM.
• Collection of stories, The Lady is Naked, which received support from the Rachel Leib Goldberg Fund
• Best sellers in the Youth market: Shlomtzi Writes a Diary and Moshe is Simply Complicated (Yediot Achronot Publishers)
• Children’s books: Mother Stays in Kindergarten (Kinnert Zmorah Bitan Puplishers, also published in Greece and Germany) and The Sad Alligator and the Fly, which will be published in China as well this year

Her stories have been published in anthologies and magazines in Israel and abroad.

Keydar also wrote the drama Diana’s Child which was directed by Ori Barbash. She has written for the series Weekly Torah Portion (Ari Pullman), I Agree (Sivahn Arbel), Good Intentions, Dead for a Moment and more.

Keydar also serves as a consultant and writer for many television series such as Diaries of the Summer Vacation and The North Star, and wrote comedy scripts for the series Come to Eat Eti. She serves as an instructor at the Sam Spiegel School of Film, Mansher, Beit Ariela and others.
